For generations human beings have believed in predicting the weather beforehand so that many things which have a direct bearing on weather could be planned that much better. Weather forecasting is nothing but a science of predicting weather or the state of atmosphere over a wide locality or place.

This proved to be much better and effective and thus started the modern day weather forecasting system, which is still in vogue.

While information gathering solved the problem of weather forecasting to some extent, it was still felt that these reports were often inaccurate and so they started using equipment and various instruments to measure vital parameters like pressure, temperature, moisture in the air, direction of wind flow, speed of wind, etc. These new technologies helped man a lot to better predict weather over reasonably long period of time. Well, according to the head of the association, the team had a set a target of fifty thousand pounds last year and ended up with hundred thousand pounds worth of Christmas lights.
